Ahhhh Love is in the air! It’s Valentine’s Day Week. Everything is pink and red, heart-shaped, and heart-felt! I believe that Valentine’s Day is a day that everyone can participate in. Whether you’re married, in a relationship, just dating, single, or otherwise; Valentine’s Day is a great day to show a little bit more compassion and love to others.
Although that’s what I believe it should be, I know in reality Valentine’s Day can be pretty tough. Some people are wishing they had a Valentine, some missing or grieving a Valentine, some people could even just be missing the spark. There are a ton of reasons that Valentine’s Day can be a little glum for some. But whatever the reason may be, if you can’t do anything else, show yourself some love. If no one else could or would, you should. As someone who is also single, I wanted to share a few things that I like to do when I’m showing myself some love.
Here is a list of things to do when you’re single on Valentine’s Day:
Buy yourself something nice!
You don’t have to wait for someone else to buy you what you want, you buy it! The flowers, chocolate, jewelry, FOOD.. the list can go on and on. “Treat yo self!” -In my best Tom Haverford & Donna Meagle voice-
Pamper yourself
Can buying yourself something nice be considered pampering yourself? On all accounts, yes. HOWEVER, you can also write your past or future self a love note, cook your favorite meal, or even watch a movie of your choice. These are all things you can do in the comfort of your own home. Meaning it’s usually free! (Yes, I know, it being free is subjective, stick with me here though.)
Watch a movie
Now if you haven’t caught on yet, one thing about me… I’m going to watch a movie. It’s like a little getaway. I mentioned watching one in my point above, but now I’m going to suggest some. Here are 10 movies you can watch on Valentine’s Day:
- Valentine’s Day
- Eat Pray Love
- 10 Things I Hate About You
- The Wedding Planner
- Think Like A Man
- The Bodyguard
- The Proposal
- If Beale Street Could Talk
- Beyond The Lights
- Crazy Rich Asians (The wedding scene alone????? I’ve taken notes!)
Do Something Nice for Someone Else
Receiving isn’t the only way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s also a day of giving. So go ahead and let someone know how much you love them. It can be your mom, dad, best friend, or even a stranger. It’s always nice, to be nice.
Galentines OR Malentines Date
This is my personal fave. Go out with your other single friends or family! Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you have to spend the day alone. Find someone who also would like to go out and have a great time. I know women already do this a lot, but men you too! Who knows, you may go out and meet your next Valentine. 🙂
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
Not having a Valentine, doesn’t mean you can’t be your own. Celebrate and love on you! You deserve it. Have a great week and Happy Valentine’s Day Guys!
